To Be Me, is to Live a Life Of Irony

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Hello everyone! My name is Kyle. I am the administrator of this website and creator of SHOUT IT Ministries. I will be writing blogs once a week , usually on the weekends, to keep you updated on what’s happening with this project and my life. Here is my first blog…enjoy:

product_detail_u_ironyIn many ways, the word, “ironic,” seems to be the word that describes me the best. Most people that know me would say the words that most describe me are the most are shy and kind, but if I had to choose one word to describe myself it would be the word–ironic. Why do I say this, well here are just a few examples of why I am ironic:

  • At the age of 7 my family and I moved—from one end of the street to the other (how many people can say that?)?
  • My best friend of 18 years and counting, at first, was my an enemy and a bully(1st grade)– but we have become lifelong best friends. I’d like to say that our lives competely changed course when we met.
  • My first love for sports was soccer(and now I’m bored silly with it) even though I now am a passionate fan of baseball for 15 years and counting(I’m a die-hard Cleveland Indians fan)
  • I used to be very timid of driving and I didn’t get my driver’s license until I was 19, but after I got my own car driving became a hobby of mine (largely because it’s where I can get away and worship God!!)
  • I don’t eat vegetables or fruits that much–I’m a meat and potatoes eater, persay–but nevertheless I work in  a produce department currently.
  • I’m a very shy person (voted shyest in my class of 2003!) but I love to express myself through singing! (Still haven’t sung a solo yet–although I’m willing to give it a shot if given a chance!)
  • I love to eat and I don’t watch my diet, but I don’t gain any weight no matter how hard I try! (My friends don’t like when I mention this! ;)
  • I never played little league baseball(I didn’t fall in love with baseball until the age of 10) but now I play church softball every summer (since 2005)
  • I am extremely organized and disciplined, yet I procrastinate on many different things (still working on this problem, LOL!)
  • When shopping for cars, I’ve looked at exactly 2 cars and bought them both. I’m not much of a car enthusiast you could say (the first one was a horrible decision, the 2nd one was a very good one so far)
  • And on and on it seems to go…

Finally, I almost never yell and I’m very soft spoken in nature.  So when the phrase SHOUT IT became my mission statement and phrase to live by— it seemed to fit perfectly into the theme of irony that’s run throughout my life!  The Christian life which, I’m currently living, is full of irony too when you think about it:  you must die to yourself to live, give rather than receive, serve rather than be served, live for heavenly things not earthly things, and find joy in amidst sorrow and pain.

Next week, I’ll discuss more in depth why I choose the phrase SHOUT IT, what I want to accomplish with it, the purpose of this website, and why it’s so important for us to know the truth and then live the truth. Thanks for reading. If you have any questions or comments post them on this website, facebook me, or e-mail me at kylej317@gmail.com. God Bless.
