Toy Story 10-Year Anniversary Edition Disc 1 (2005)
Intro
Running Length: 1:00
Description: John Lasseter gives a brief intro to the 10-Year anniversary DVD. View first time you purchase DVD.
The Legacy
Running Length: 11:42
Description: Filmmakers and Animators talk about the legacy and impact that Toy Story has had on their lives. Certainly one of the best special features of all the Toy Story movies. When you’ve in a Toy Story mode–watch again and again!
Commentary
Running Length: 1 Hour 20 minutes
Description: John Lasseter, Pete Doctor, Andrew Stanton, Bonnie Arnold, and a few others give their thoughts on the movie. Overall this is a very enlightening and educational viewing experience for big Toy Story fans who want to do more about the animation process, the characters, and all the secrets of the movie. If you’re a casual fan– you’ll probably get bored. In my opinion one of the best commentaries of all the Pixar movies to date(they’re all very good!)–if not the best.
Toy Story 10-Year Anniversary Disc 2 (2005)
Making of Toy Story
Running Length: 20:17
Description: A fairly detailed and long documentary on how Toy Story was made and how Pixar began. This is one of the jewels of the Special Features. Worth viewing on occasion and has replay value.
Filmmakers Reflect
Running Length: 16:34
Description: A roundtable discussion between John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Peter Doctor, and the late Joe Ranft as they reflect on the movie ten years later. One neat thing about this feature is that it takes place inside the incredible Pixar Studios. If you have a short attention span, you may get bored with this. But if you love Toy Story or Pixar– this is a can’t miss feature to watch.
Deleted Scenes
Running Length: 18:50
Description: Eight short deleted scenes with two intros. Mostly shows storyboards that never were put to animation. None of the deleted scenes stand out and were worthy of being put in the movie in my opinion. Watch once if you’re interested in what could have been with Toy Story. If not, skip.
The Claw Game
Running Length: —
Description: Here you’ll be able to play the claw game collecting the characters from the movie. There’s no skill involved, it’s basically pure luck on who you’ll get since you can’t see all of the characters on the bottom besides the green aliens. Once you collect a character a short commercial is shown about that toy (very short!) and then you have the option to Play Again if you’d like. If you have a few minutes to spare, go ahead and give it a try. But lower your expectations if you decide to play this game.
Behind the Scenes:
Designing Toy Story
Running Length: 6:12
Description: Animators briefly talk about how they designed Toy Story. Short enough to have replay value and be educational on what goes into the computer animation of a movie.
Design
Characters
Galleries
Running Length: 11:31
Description: Here is where you’ll be presented with several drawings and sketches of the characters. If you’re interested to see how the characters evolved over time–it’s very interesting. If not pass.
3D Turnarounds
Running Length: 2:34
Description: The main characters are shown rotating in their final 3D form. Although short, this is nothing to get overly excited about. Only diehard fans should view this.
Design
Sets
Galleries
Running Length: 2:32
Description: This is where graphic artists should jump for joy! You’ll be treated to sketches of the design sets. And they are beautiful!
3D Tours
Running Length: 3:07
Description: Similar to the 3D turnarounds of the characters only it’s sets. Again only for diehard fans and those who absolutely love animation.
Design
Color
Designing Color
Running Length: 3:34
Description: A short documentary of the color design of Toy Story. Fairly interesting even if you’re not an animator at heart.
Galleries
Running Length: 4:20
Description: A showing of several sketches of the color scheme of Toy Story. View only if you’re big on animation or simply can’t get enough Toy Story.
Story
Running Length: 13:56
Description: Featuring the late Joe Ranft giving a storyboard of the Green Army sequence, Andy’s New toy sequence storyboard reel, and a side by side comparison of the movie and storyboard of the chase sequence. Worth watching once to see the beginning stages of how an animated movie is made.
Production
Running Length: 13:16
Description: This is where you can view a sequence of the movie from different points of view: the storyboard, the layout version, and the final edition–all by your remote. Plus a brief look into the Pixar Studios and a neat sequence where you go through several different languages—very funny! If you’re a Pixar fan or a diehard Toy Story fan—it’s worth viewing for sure.
Music & Sounds
Running Length: 26:20
Description: First, you’ll be treated to the “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” music video–which is certainly worth viewing again and again. Designing Sound is just that–about the sounds of Toy Story. Only watch if you love seeing how movies are made from all viewpoints. The Demos are Randy Newman’s recordings of all the big songs. If you absolutely love the music of Toy Story–it’s worth listening to once. But take note that it’s a total of 18 minutes worth of music!
Publicity
Running Length: 10:14
Description: Some interesting content located here. The Character Interview is Woody and Buzz talking about the film. The one negative is that Buzz isn’t voiced by Tim Allen here. The trailers section gives you a full showing of every trailer shown in theaters. TV spots are short commercials that aired promoting the film. The Posters section shows show of the posters that helped promote the film. Finally, Toys and Stuff shows a few of the toys that have been put into retail from the film. All in all, worth viewing once to get a historical perceptive of the film.
Toy Story Treats
Running Length: 13:02
Description: This is where you’ll find the Easter Eggs of the DVD. One is featured on nearly each menu page. What are they? Golden star badges! There are fourteen total. These Easter eggs are short clips of some of the main characters. Very funny and entertaining if you’re up for a good laugh! The one negative–both Woody and Buzz are voiced by different actors. But still worth checking out! If you want to access all the Easter Eggs at once, you can cheat by going to the Index page and then clicking on golden star located on the bottom left corner. Note that there is one more short clip located on this page(the page with all the Easter Eggs) too on the bottom left corner.
Toy Story Special Edition DVD (2010)
Sneak Peek: “The Story”
Running Length: 2:07
Description: Lee Unkrich, director of Toy Story 3, talks briefly about Toy Story 3. If you’ve seen Toy Story 3 already(I would hope that you have already!), this is not worth viewing.
Buzz Lightyear Mission Logs: Blast Off
Running Length: 3:27
Description: Buzz voiced by Tim Allen educates us on the what astronauts do through the NASA program. Albeit short, it’s very educational. Worth your time.
Paths to Pixar
Running Length: 4:49
Description: A few Pixar artists share their stories on how they came to Pixar and what they do. If you’re a graphic designer or a big fan of Pixar it’s worth viewing. If not, skip.
Studio Stories: John’s Car
Running Length: 1:29
Description: A very short animated story about John’s car. Worth watching once, but has no replay value.
Studio Stories: Baby AJ
Running Time: 1:41
Description: Another short animated story about Pixar. This one is about a Halloween costume contest. As stated above, it’s worth watching once, but has no replay value.
Studio Stories: Scooter Races
Running Time: 2:20
Description: The third and last of the short animated stories about Pixar. It is the most entertaining and interesting of the short stories, but again has no replay value after you’ve watched it.
Buzz Takes Manhattan
Running Time: 2:13
Description: John Lasseter talks about the Buzz Lightyear balloon that went through Manhattan during the Macy’s Parade on New Year’s Day. Short and fairly interesting to see how these large balloons come to life. Watch once.
Black Friday: The Toy Story You Never Knew
Running Time: 7:36
Description: A short documentary and showing of what Toy Story was originally scripted to be produced. The short reel shown gives a sneak peek at a much different and darker version of the movie–worth watching once in order to get a perspective of how thankful you should be that Toy Story never came to this!

Simply an advertisement about Digital copies of Disney Movies. Not worth watching.
Toy Story Special Edition Blu ray Disc (2010)
The Blu ray itself contains all the special features of both the special Edition DVD that comes with it and the special features found in the 10-Year Anniversary Edition. The only difference is that there are less menus to scroll through AND no Easter Eggs to be found. That being said, the movie looks stunningly beautiful in Blu-ray and is worth the price by itself. The sound is also enhanced to 5.1 surround sound!! This DVD is a must have if you own a blu-ray player!
